In R.E in Year 1  we have being studying the topic of 'Belonging'. We are focusing on the sacrament of Baptism. We have had lots of fun acting out the stages of Baptism in class.

In science we have been looking at different materials. Recently we investigated the different types of paper to see why different types of paper are best for writing, painting and mopping up!

World Book Day

We had a great day dressing up as our favourite book characters. We did lots of literacy activities on World book day, we had children in year 4 come and read to us and we had a different teacher read us a story too.

Kinder Kitchen

The people from Kinder kitchen came in and did a workshop with us where we all got to make different salads using lots of fresh ingredients. We even got to taste them and they were yummy.

Fire Brigade visit

Daniel P - We learnt a lot about how important it is to have fire alarms in our houses.  The fireman said they would fit them for us if we didn't have any.

Year 1 tested different materials to see which would be best to muffle sound in their ear protectors.

This half term we had a visit from the Dog's Trust to tell us all about dog safety.  We were really lucky that the lady bought in her dog Fudge for us to see.  The children learnt a lot about how to behave around dogs and what they should do in certain situations to keep safe around dogs.

In our RE lessons we learnt about Baptism and then we acted out our own Baptism serivce in class.

In Science we have been learning about materials and our bodies.  In our lessons we have been working together to compare materials and then we had fun learning about our bodies and the different body parts.  We did this by drawing around each other and labelling where different organs are found.

We went on our first class trip for the year to the Broadway theatre in Barking to see Peter Pan in pantomime.  We all had a brilliant day joining in with the singing and dancing.

We had a lot of fun decorating our own baubles to hang on our school Chirstmas tree.

Previous year events - 2013-2014

Food - topic

To begin our topic on food we turned our hall into a Cafe for the afternoon with all the children in Year 1 and 2 taking on the different roles of chef, waitress or customers.

During our topic on food we went on a class trip to our local Harvester.  When we were there we were given chef hats, we had a tour of the kitchen, we did blind food tasting of the salad cart and enjoyed a lovely lunch.  We had a great time and learnt lots about different food groups.

In our Literacy lessons we have been reading 'The Tiger who came to tea' so we decided to have our own tea party in class but there was no tiger to disturb our tea party just lots of cuddly toys who we shared our juice and biscuits with.

Multi-skills competition

The year 6 class in our school very kindly hosted a multi-skills competition for us. We worked in groups of 5 and had to complete 6 different activities which were a lot of fun
