  • Monday 12 July 2021 Reception Sports Day Yesterday, we joined our Nursery children for our Sports Day. It was not the first Sports Day we would have liked to put on, but the children had lots of fun and really impressed with their sports skills and sportsmanship. 
  • Friday 2 July 2021 Boat and Marble Challenge Over the past 2 days, children have been challenged to create a boat that will float and hold as many marbles as possible before sinking. We have seen some outstanding teamwork and children have been very inventive. The winning boat held an incredible 106 marbles and was created by Carolina, Remi and Devynn.
  • Monday 22 March 2021 Music We are continuing to enjoy our music lessons via Zoom. The children had lots of fun singing and dancing today. 
  • Monday 22 February 2021 News - 22.2.21 Reception have been writing about what they got up to over the half-term break. 
  • Tuesday 9 February 2021 Reception's Zoom Meeting - Dreams This week, we talked about our hopes and dreams. Some of us focussed on the things that we're missing right now and hopes that we will soon be reunited with friends and family. Others shared their dreams and aspirations for the future. 
  • Monday 8 February 2021 News - 8.2.21 This week in our news, we have challenged ourselves to extend our sentences using the word 'and'. 
  • Tuesday 2 February 2021 Reception's Zoom Meeting - Friends In our Zoom meeting this week, we talked about our friends and shared pictures of the friends that we are missing and looking forward to seeing when we're allowed to. Mrs Purkis shared this poem, 
  • Monday 1 February 2021 News - 1.2.21 We have been working hard on our writing and have pushing ourselves to write more than 1 sentence for our news. This week, we have been focussing on making a link between the sentences.

  • Monday 25 January 2021 Tell Me Something Happy As part of our Topic learning, we shared the story 'Tell me something happy before I go to sleep'. Children were asked to share their own pictures of things that make them happy. 
  • Tuesday 19 January 2021 News - 18.1.21 We have been keeping busy this week and are becoming fantastic writers too. 
  • Tuesday 19 January 2021 How to Catch a Star Last week, as part of our topic 'What happens when I fall asleep?', we shared the story 'How to Catch a Star' by Oliver Jeffers. Over the weekend, children were set a crafty challenge to create their own stars at home. 
  • Tuesday 12 January 2021 News - 11.1.21 Every Monday morning in Reception, we write our news. We are continuing to do this during lockdown and have been working hard with our writing. Here is some of our wonderful work. 
  • Tuesday 12 January 2021 What Happens When I Fall Asleep? Our new topic is called, What Happens When I Fall Asleep?. We have been thinking about what we already know about night time and what we would like to learn through this topic. 
  • Monday 11 January 2021 Music Zoom Mrs Hayden led our music session via Zoom. We had so much fun singing, dancing and making music!
  • Thursday 7 January 2021 Alive in 5! Our Maths topic this half term is Alive in 5! Although we are working remotely at the moment, we are still working hard and enthusiastically.
  • Thursday 7 January 2021 Epiphany In RE this week we have been learning about Epiphany. We have been sharing the story of the 3 Wise Men and their journey to see the new king, Jesus. We have been thinking about what gifts we would give to baby Jesus and making some of our own. 
  • Wednesday 16 December 2020 Zoom Christmas Party As we were unable to celebrate together in school, Reception had a Zoom Christmas Party.  
  • Friday 11 December 2020 The Gruffalo We were so happy that our children who are currently self-isolating were still able to watch the live streamed Tall Stories Theatre production of The Gruffalo. Children were asked to draw and label a picture of the Gruffalo as part of their home learning. 
  • Friday 11 December 2020 Shape Pictures As part of our home learning for today, children have been making shape pictures. 
  • Thursday 10 December 2020 The Jolly Christmas Postman While working from home, we shared the story of the Jolly Christmas Postman. Children were asked to make a card for their own postman/postwoman. Filip painted this fantastic picture and made his postman very jolly indeed!
  • Wednesday 9 December 2020 4-sided Shapes On the first day of isolation, reception made some shapes.
  • Thursday 19 November 2020 Colour Monsters This morning, as part of our work during Well-being Week, we have been reading Colour Monster by Anna Llenas. The children considered the different feelings felt by the colour monster - happiness, sadness, fear, calm, anger and love - and reflected on what each of these feelings is like and what causes us to experience them. We created our own colour monsters. 
  • Friday 13 November 2020 Poppy Biscuits To commemorate Remembrance Day, the children in Reception decorated biscuits to represent poppies.
  • Monday 12 October 2020 We made a big bridge! In class today, the children have worked together to create this incredible bridge from cubes. It stretched almost the length of the classroom.
